The Burning of Mississippi - Mississippi

In this 1988 film, starring Gene Hackman and William Dafoe, two FBI agents looked into the disappearance of three civil rights activists (Chaney, Goodman, and Schwerner). One of the greatest works ever produced, the film earned nominations for seven Academy Awards and won one for Best Cinematography.

Sadly, the movie received harsh criticism for not considering the civic rights campaigners' roles. There were factual errors and historical flaws, which significantly diminished its popularity.

The filmmaker, Alan Parker, made substantial use of a few places, including Braxton, Jackson, and Canton in Mississippi and Alabama. In addition to these locations, he ensured that he represented the residents in other scenes, such as on-the-street television interviews, according to The New York Times. The movie used a fantastic filming approach that connected with the audience.

The Ice Storm - Connecticut

Even before the movie, the same-named 1994 novel hit the market. In New Canaan, Connecticut, two wealthy, dysfunctional families who were part of the upper class were the subject of this narrative.

There was no question that the movie captured the interest of everyone, especially considering how smoothly the filming went. Although the film received positive reviews from critics and audiences, it is unfortunate that the residents of New Canaan were not very happy. They were annoyed by the portrayal of their community.

Job Taylor, a senior partner at a New York legal firm, admitted to The New York Times in 1996 that there were challenges in producing the movie. For shipping, breakfast, or lunch purposes, they couldn't park on Elm Street. Things might have been different if it had been the USA.
